Unfortunately, while many of us are familiar with positive adoption language, most expectant moms that come to us at first do not understand what that means. The most common search term on the internet for expectant moms is “how do I give up my baby for adoption.” If we do not include those words in our blog posts, and instead put “how do I create an adoption plan for my baby” then our website will not show up in most expectant moms’ Google search results.

Johnson, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology with the University of Minnesota. In addition to attending on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Dr. Johnson founded the International Adoption Clinic at the University of Minnesota. His research interests include the effects of early institutionalization on growth and development and the outcomes of internationally adopted children.
