Forever Bound Adoption is dedicated to educating and preparing our adoptive applicants to be the best parents they can be, today and in the future. We require that all adoptive parents complete training through the National Council for Adoption (NCFA). These courses and webinars are designed to help prepare families for the rewards and challenges associated with their adoptions.
Pre-Adoption Training – Required
All families need to complete at least five courses and the recorded webinar, totaling 10.5 hours, BEFORE their Home Study can be completed. Following a successful intake interview, the office staff with send you an access code with links to these trainings. The five courses can be chosen from the following:
- Adoption 101
- How to Explain to Children Their Adoption Story at Different Ages
- Navigating Adoptions with Children Already in the Family
- Parenting Children of a Different Race or Culture
- Adoption Finance 101 for People Experiencing Infertility
- How to Pay for an Adoption
- Adoption After Infertility: Lived Experience Panel
- Processing Infertility and Child Loss
- Pre-Adoption Medical Consultations for Prospective Adoptive Parents
Post Placement Training – Required
After placement and BEFORE finalization of the adoption, all adoptive parents are required to complete 10 hours of additional adoption education training that will help them as they prepare to parent their adopted child. This list is a total of 8 hours. You can choose any of the trainings on the Elective list to fulfill the other 2 hours.
