How are Adoptive Couples Screened?

How are Adoptive Couples Screened?

As you’ve considered all of your options for an unplanned pregnancy, you might have searched, “How can I put my baby up for adoption?” Once you’ve decided to place your baby for adoption, the most important decision you’ll make is which adoptive family is best suited to raise them. There are many factors to consider when choosing an adoptive family. We know you have concerns about making sure the adoptive family will love, protect, and take care of your baby.

At Forever Bound Adoption, a local adoption agency licensed in Utah and Idaho, all of the adoptive parents we work with are carefully screened prior to becoming approved adoptive couples. Our caseworkers personally meet with all of our adoptive couples. We visit with them in their homes, and perform home inspections to ensure the safety and appropriateness of their living environments. We conduct personal interviews and gather detailed information about their backgrounds, medical histories, work history, and financial stability. We collect and carefully review letters of recommendation from family and friends who know them well. And we perform thorough FBI background checks examining any criminal or child abuse history.

Once all of this information is gathered, a Forever Bound Adoption caseworker writes a home study for the adoptive family. The home study is then reviewed by our home study review committee. If everything is found to be in order, the family is approved for adoption through Forever Bound and their profile is shared with birth mothers, like yourself.

You then have the opportunity to look through the profiles of all of our couples approved for adoption in Utah and Idaho. You can choose the couples you would most like to meet with, and we will arrange face-to-face meetings where you can get to know each other. The relationships you begin to form in these meetings will continue to grow as you get to know your chosen adoptive couple.
